Farid Rakun
Farid Rakun is part of the AFIELD network as one of its advisors.
Farid Rakun, based in Jakarta, is an artist, writer, editor, teacher and instigator based in Jakarta. His artistic practice hinges on self-imposed constraints as a way to portray absurdities in and of everyday life. Trained as an architect at the University of Indonesia and Cranbrook Academy of Art, he currently serves as a researcher and education coordinator for the artists’ initiative ruangrupa – a non-profit organisation founded in 2000 in Jakarta that examines contemporary Indonesian urban and cultural issues – and collective gudskul. His experience working with a number of international cultural and educational institutions solidifies his belief in productive coincidences brought about by the collaborative nature of his practice.
