Joana Hadjithomas is a member of Council’s board, where she acts as co-president.

Film director, screenwriter and producer, she often works in collaboration with Khalil Joreige. Their work includes feature and documentary films, video and photographic installations, sculpture, and texts.

Their films have been multi awarded in international festivals. Their documentaries include Khiam, El Film el Mafkoud (The Lost Film), The Lebanese Rocket society and Esmerna (Izmir), and feature films such as I Want to See with Catherine Deneuve & Rabih Mroueh (Cannes, Un Certain Regard). Their artworks are shown in major museums and biennales around the world, and in 2017 they were awarded the Marcel Duchamp Prize.

They are members of the founding team of Metropolis Cinema and Cinematheque in Beirut, and have just finished their new feature film The Memory Box.
