Building institutions

In 2017, Council did a talk at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, introduced by the following text. 1

Art and culture are seen as engines of social progress, yet artists are too often left out of development policies. We tend to draw a dividing line between the art of museums, festivals and biennials, and the philanthropy of foundations and NGOs. At the crossroads of these two “worlds”, Grégory Castéra and Sandra Terdjman develop the principles of Council. Founded in 2013, Council is an institution that brings together a multidisciplinary research laboratory, artwork productions and a fellowship for art and social initiative. Through these programs, Council wishes to act in the long term in order to change the political representation of our society.
