On Becoming Earthlings

Initiated in 2015 in the frame of the Paris Climate Change Conference (COP21), On Becoming Earthlings explores the attempts of humans to represent the different scales of environmental crises.

In 2015, Council organised the 18th edition and the first Blackmarket for Useful Knowledge and Non-Knowledge in France, at the Musée de L’Homme. For a duration of four hours, 75 experts from different disciplines were gathered to exchange with members of the audience for a 30 minute conversation. Each of them gave a different account on how to live and think the Anthropocene. 1

In 2019, Council commissioned the film North of The Mountain by Zhou Tao Zhou Tao, for which the artist spent nearly two years building a repertoire of image in an eco-industrial park at the foot of the Kunlun Mountains. 2

In 2020, Council curated the exhibition Shoreline Movements  as part of the Taipei Biennial 2020. 3
